Yes, Tinder Uses an Algorithm to Track ‘Overall Attractiveness’

As a matter of fact, while there are many different preferences for all the people on the dating apps, there is an actual algorithm to determine the level of overall attractiveness. In an article from Fast Company, it’s noted that the swiping on Tinder is actually a “vast voting system” where the user is saying whether one person is more attractive than another.

Whether this is information the majority of the public would actually want to use, who really knows? Still, the fact that there is a mathematical system to determine how attractive you are to all the other users is interesting—and frightening.
