As the most popular women’s sport, basketball should already have readily available clothes designed for women—right? Nope—that was not the case until now. This past week, Nike unveiled a new basketball performance apparel collection that’s designed by women for women. The line is titled the Elite Basketball collection and consists of a high performance hoodies, tanks, shorts, and pants.
There were many female athletes that consulted on the line to create the best fit for the best athletes. Some of the consultants for the collection include WNBA players Sue Bird, Skylar Diggins, Chiney Ogwumike, and Elena Delle Donne, and the University of Connecticut’s women basketball team.
While there are only four pieces at the moment, the creation of the line has opened the door for more pieces to be added later on. The launching of the collection creates the first step in a revolution of increased interest in women sports.
