The U.S. Women’s National Team has officially qualified for the Olympics!
In a match against Canada on Sunday, February 21st, the team won 2-0, with 17-year-old Mallory Pugh offering a goal-making assist.
“It’s just been really phenomenal having these players come in and just be brave and courageous and show what they bring to the table,” said Becky Sauerbrunn, co-captain of USWNT, to ESPN.
A big part of the win against Canada was also the fact the the stadium was full of girls who were there to see their team win.
“It’s fantastic for the community to see this up close and personal,” said Jill Ellis, USWMNT coach. “And our fans have been tremendous always, but I think for the young women to come see these girls and see our team play up close I think it’s special.”
