When it comes to egg donation, many donors have found that process entails many more risks and potential complications (not to mention side effects before and after the procedure) than their fertility clinics let on. These can include the mental and emotional aftermath of “having” children one may never meet and the plethora of medical issues from taking so many hormone injections.
Because of all of these stories that were not getting told to perspective donors, a group of women got together to create We Are Egg Donors, a support network and blog that shares what can go very, very wrong (and right) with egg donation, allowing women to get the information they need before they head into the operating room and to receive the encouragement they deserve after going through the process.
The bottom line? All women have a right to know what they’re getting themselves into if they choose to move forward with egg donation, both in terms of the physical and emotional repercussions.
