In a video that’s gone viral since posted on a Facebook, a woman is heard confronting a man who she caught taking pictures of her as well as other girls and women. After sitting in her car watching this, she decided to confront him and film the altercation.
While the man consistently asks the woman why she is following him, denies having done this, and refuses to let her see the camera, he ultimately says, “Why do you think that I would need your permission?”
An article in The Guardian answered his question with a simple statement — “Legally, men who want to secretly film women’s body parts largely don’t need permission or consent.”
Very few states have laws against this, with Massachusetts just making upskirt photos illegal last year, according to The Guardian. “Essentially, if someone would like to film or take pictures of parts of your body to masturbate to once they get home, that’s their right,” states The Guardian.
Does something have to change? We think so.
