This Photo Series Helps People See Their Own Beauty

Eighteen-year old Chicago high school student Shea Glover conducted a social experiment to see how people would react when someone told them they are beautiful. After putting people in front of her camera she tells them, “I’m taking pictures of things I find beautiful.”

The experiment, not intended to try to grab reactions from people, was initially an independent project that slowly evolved into a bigger experiment on beauty. As you’ll see in the video, many of the responders flood the screen with smiles. Not everyone believes her or wants to take her seriously when she calls them beautiful. But that’s what the social experiment shows us – how each and every one of us regards beauty, and more importantly, the beauty within ourselves.
