We’re Obsessed: This Is the Feminist Book Club You’ll Definitely Want to Join

The hashtag #wlclub is popping up all over Twitter and the story behind it is even better than we could’ve hoped.

Writer and journalist Rachel Syme has launched the Women’s Lives Club, an internet-based book club. The best part? Each month, the group reads a biography of a different significant woman — hence the “women’s lives” moniker.

Syme’s initially put feelers out over Twitter, where the concept was met by immediate enthusiasm. Since then, the Women’s Lives Club has risen to over 400 excited members. The members discuss using Google Groups, where they post everything from a quick comment to a lengthy analytic essay.

The group, which has sparked many in-person discussions and small group gatherings across the country, is easy to join and receiving acclaim for its inclusive approach to diversifying our book shelves. Get reading, ladies!
