This Groundbreaking Treatment Lessens the Risks of In Vitro Fertilization

Good news for people looking at in vitro fertilization treatments.

In the UK, IVF patients are being offered a treatment that allows in vitro fertilization to occur inside of the womb. In order to prevent lower birth weight in babies born through IVF, doctors are trying to limit an embryos’ exposure to synthetic culture fluids in the laboratory.

For this new and more “natural” process, doctors put the egg and sperm in a capsule and then insert it into the uterus for 24 hours. The capsule is then removed and all of the healthy embryos are implanted into the lining of a woman’s uterus.

The purpose of this new treatment is to increase babies’ health benefits by creating a more natural environment by limiting laboratory exposure.
