Earlier this week Sports Illustrated revealed some images from their shoot and announced to much internet fanfare that they have a plus sized model. OK, she’s a size 12 but that’s progress. Today while scrolling through Facebook I was met with this cover image. All good will I had developed, which wasn’t much, instantly evaporated upon seeing this image.
In case you missed it, the model, Hannah Davis, is pulling down the front of her bikini bottoms. And guess what? She’s got no hair.
Fashion forcing it’s way into our pubic hair is nothing new. There have been countless articles discussing pubic hair trends. I get it – it’s a thing. I’ve been there, done that.
Hannah Davis gets to choose how she wants to manage her pubic hair – I’ve got no problem with that. But you know what I do have a problem with? The fact that millions of girls, boys, women, and men will see this cover (on supermarket stands, no less) and will now assume that this is a beauty standard that they need to buy into.
