Have you had your serving of whole wheat today?
A recent study published in Pediatrics says that women who tack on an extra serving of fiber to their recommended daily intake are at lower risk for developing breast cancer. With approximately one in eight women developing invasive breast cancer in the U.S. every year, this could be incredibly important for lowering such rates.
The researchers made another revolutionary discovery when it came to reducing the development of breast cancer – this method is especially effective for adolescents and young adults, reducing circulating estrogen levels that can muck up other parts of your health.
However, health professionals caution that you should be eating more fiber anyways. With high-fiber diets improving colon health and weight management, making a slice of toast with your morning eggs doesn’t seem so bad after all. Consider spooning a little more granola into your yogurt next time!
