Rowan Blanchard Illustrates What an LGBTQ Ally Should Look Like

14-year-old actress Rowan Blanchard is most known for her role as Riley on Disney Channel show Girl Meets World. However this week she is blowing up the internet with recent realizations. On Twitter, she posted a picture of a Tweet draft saying, “In my life – only ever liked boys. however I personally don’t wanna label myself as straight, gay or whateva so I am not gonna give myself labels to stick with – just existing.” Later responding online to someone’s tweet, she also expressed her support for more LGBTQ representation on her show.

Blanchard has been a long time advocate for feminism and LGBTQ equality, famously giving a speech at the UN’s Women’s Conference. She also recently published an article in Rookie Magazine on self-confidence and self-blame entitled “Sorry, Not Sorry: How I quit apologizing for existing”.

If you’re a straight woman, check out how you can be a better ally to the members of the queer community in your life.
