Re/code’s New Series Discusses Issues Women Face in Tech

Did you know that there are fewer women in technology today than back in 1990? Nowadays, about one in every four professionals in tech are female, compared to one in three 25 years ago. Ridiculous, right?

Diversity in the tech industry is becoming a bigger and bigger topic every day as more stories of harassment, racism, sexism, and bias come to light. In response, Re/code just launched a video series called “The 26%: Women Speak Out on Tech’s Diversity Crisis,” where women working in tech get to discuss the important work they’re doing, as well as the uphill battles they’ve faced in the field.

Obviously, there’s a lot of work that needs to be done to create a more inclusive tech sector. But by making ourselves aware of the issues facing women and minorities in the field, we can start to have the difficult conversations that are required to take action.
