All hail the Queen!
This past Wednesday, Queen Elizabeth II became the longest-ruling British monarch, beating out her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria, who ruled from 1837 to 1901, a total of 63 years and seven months.
Regardless of whether or not you follow the Royal Family, you have to admit it’s an impressive feat, especially given the time period Queen Elizabeth II has been ruling during. Since she took the throne at age 25, she’s seen it all: The end of World War II, the entirety of the Cold War, the 2012 Olympics, great British feats, the works.
And I’m not going to lie: It’s pretty cool that the several of the longest-reigning monarchs in British history (and some of the most influential monarchs at that) were women.
