Meet Action Figure Ruby Rails, Our New Shero

There’s an awesome new shero and action figure named Ruby Rails. When she is not out saving the world, she is a software engineer who designs her own wardrobe. The video below tells you a little bit more about the new doll, and reveals some eye-opening statistics about women in film.

According to the video, only 12% of lead film characters are women. Additionally, men get twice as much screen time as women. These new dolls focused on creativity are looking to challenge that stereotype. In an interview, the founder and CEO of GoldieBlox and creator of the doll, Debbie Sterling, said, “We want to show girls that they can be whatever they want to be: a scientist, a skydiver, a zipliner, an engineer, and so much more. The fact is, mainstream culture is failing our girls by perpetuating limitations of what women can be.”
