You have your iron, your magnesium, your fish oil, your ginseng — it’s your evening ritual, it’s your healthy capsule to tap off the night. But what if what you’re putting in your body isn’t all that it seems?

What if you realized that your daily intake included aluminum and titanium dioxide? What if you were pregnant and discovered that you were exposing your body and your baby to the same ingredients that are used in laundry detergents and cleaning products? That’s what happened to Katerina Schneider, when she was four months pregnant and took a look at what was inside of her prenatal multivitamin.

Schneider decided to imagine, and create, a multivitamin that excluded harmful chemicals and gelatin. Along with Dr. Luke Bucci, Schneider found that, “We don’t need the 20 to 40 things in a typical multivitamin,” and even better, she decided that this vitamin of the future would be delivered to women right on their door step.

Launched on October 19th, Ritual is a new women’s vitamin company that promotes simplicity and the best ingredients for the body. The company, with their sleek branding and honest statements, are making their Essential for Women vitamins look ridiculously cool.

Hip girls aside, the brand is very research based and in tune with what the body of women, ages 18-45, is truly craving. “I wanted to figure out what, as women, we’re lacking each and every day,” said Schneider. The essential ingredients that the body needs are:

  • Vitamin B12
  • Vitamin D3
  • Vitamin K2 MK-7
  • Vitamin E
  • Folate
  • Omega-3 fatty acids
  • Boron
  • Iron
  • Magnesium.

Ritual’s vitamins come in a clear capsule that are non-GMO, vegan, gluten and allergen free, and manufactured in the USA. The product contains the necessities — sole nourishment is key — and should be taken twice a day.

In the Ritual mission, they claim that they are “for skeptics” because they are made up of skeptics. “We’re not about pseudoscience and half-truths. Health fads make our eyes roll,” says Ritual about their vitamins geared toward women. “We challenged some of the top scientists to dream up the perfect daily vitamin for women.”

In a move for transparency, Ritual’s website also provides interviews with scientists and graphics detailing the origin of each ingredient.

By creating a multivitamin for everything that our body needs and leaving out everything that we don’t, Ritual is paving the way for the healthy and honest health care that every woman deserves.
