For the First Time Ever, Tickets for the U.S. Open’s Women’s Final Sell Out Before the Men’s Final

It may not be a defining cataclysmic event in the history of sports, but it’s pretty cool: For the first time ever, tickets for the U.S. Open’s women’s final sold out before the men’s final. Even more awesome: Ticket resellers are saying that there’s the smallest gap ever between the resale prices of tickets to men’s and women’s events, and demand for the women’s final keeps going up.

This is largely in part due to tennis phenom Serena Williams, who is trying to win all four major tennis tournaments in one season. Were she to win at the U.S. Open, she would tie Steffi Graf for the second-highest number of major wins, with 22 titles. The only person with more is Margaret Court with 24.

Oh, and in case you were wondering: Roger Federer leads the men with major titles, posting 17. Gotta catch up, boys.
