There has been much talk of females and tennis, especially since the U.S. Open just concluded. Besides Serena Williams trying to earn the title of Calendar Year Grand Slam, Eva Asderaki-Moore of Greece made tennis history this past week, but in the men’s category. Asderaki-Moore refereed the match between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic on September 13th, where she was the first woman to serve as the chair umpire of the men’s single finale at the U.S. Open.
This was not Asderaki-Moore’s first time taking the high chair. She was chair umpire for the 2011 U.S. Open women’s singles final and the 2013 Wimbledon women’s single final. Pretty cool, right?
