I watched Ali Stroker years ago when she was on season 2 of The Glee Project (and I was so crushed when she didn’t win!), so when I saw her name pop up with this documentary, I was beyond excited to see her dream coming true.
Paralyzed from the chest down at age two following a car accident, Stroker has worked hard to become a performer despite dealing with and overcoming countless obstacles and biases along the way. The world of entertainment is known for its dearth of diverse performers (not to mention performers with handicaps), so it’s exciting to see Stroker leading the way. Even more importantly, Stroker is playing Anna in Broadway’s Spring Awakening, a character that is not traditionally in a wheelchair.
One thing’s for sure: You’re not going to want to miss her.
