Are Tinder and Grindr Responsible for the Rise in STDs? Here’s How Hookup Apps Are Responding

The AIDS Health Foundation, located in Los Angeles, has just ended a battle over the link to the mobile dating apps, Tinder and Grindr, and the spread of STDs.

The Senior Director of the Public Health Division for AH stated that, “Mobile dating apps are rapidly altering the sexual landscape,” and compared casual sex to “ordering pizza.”

After the foundation promoted its campaign with the plan to have a dozen billboards, Tinder responded with a cease-and-desist letter, and most importantly, a new addition to its application, which ultimately ended the feud.

The Health Safety page on the applications website offers sexually transmitted disease testing locations and can also be found under the FAQ section on the mobile app. Tips like vaccination, protection, honesty, and status, are all included in a short page, yet important page, that describes proper health and safety.
