This New Technology Can Stop Unnecessary C-Sections

Typically, doctors will use their fingers to determine how labor is progressing for a woman.

If it isn’t progressing correctly, than she may need a C-section; however, sometimes (two out of 10 C-sections), the doctor’s diagnosis is wrong.

Unnecessary C-sections can unfortunately cause a lot of problems and complications for the mother and baby.

Luckily, tiny tablet ultrasound devices may be able to fix this problem. Researchers have created an ultrasound device that is so accurate that it can give the mother’s age and BMI, the baby’s position in the birth canal, and even the length of the pregnancy. These devices are easy to use, and it also decreases the risk of infection.
