5 Simple But Effective Ways to Spread Positivity to Those Around You

Everyday, we are faced with choices. From deciding what to wear to choosing what to eat, there are simple decisions we make that shape our day-to-day lives.

Many of our choices also affect the lives of others. Without even realizing it, our actions have an impact on the people surrounding us. It’s important to recognize this and work to be as positive and uplifting as we can. There are several ways we can do this, but here are five of the simplest things we can do to spread light and positive energy!


1. Start the Day With a Smile 

Studies prove that smiling has several positive effects on your happiness and your health. Along with that, having a smile on your face can also affect the people around you in a very positive way. Whenever you can, smile at the people around you and show them that you are happy to see them. This small action can make a major difference!


2. Give Meaningful Compliments

Some of the best compliments I have ever received are those filled with thought and meaning. Remind the people you love why you love them. Whether it’s their ability to light up a room or the kindness that fills their heart, compliments can be a great way to lift people up and encourage positivity.


3. Listen and Be Present

This is so simple, but so important. When you greet someone and ask about their day, take the time to listen and ask questions. Make eye contact and let the person know you truly care about and value their words. During meals and conversations, put down your phone, be present, and focus on the moment.


4. Take the Time to Say Hello

Never hesitate to check in on someone you love, say hello, and see how they are doing. A simple text message or phone conversation can go such a long way. Keep your loved ones in mind and stay in touch. The best way to maintain a positive relationship is by dedicating time, love, and energy!


5. Take Care of Yourself and Know That Your Best Is Enough 

A big part of loving and appreciating others is taking care of yourself. If you’re having a bad day, it’s not always easy to remain positive and spread love. Do what you need to maintain your own emotional well-being. When you love and nurture yourself, it’ll be a lot easier to do the same for others.

If you’re having a rough day, don’t feel bad. Realize that each day is an adventure of it’s own, and it’s all about doing the best you can.


While these tips are simple, it’s easy to get caught up in the craziness of day-to-day life and forget to stop and appreciate the people around us. Spreading love and positive energy is an easy way to make a major difference!
