This Organization Will Provide Free Abortions to Women in Zika-Affected Countries

Women on Web is a Dutch organization that provides contraceptives, medical consultations, and reproductive health information for very low costs.

This health clinic also provides medical abortions (non-surgical, it’s a pill) that abort the fetus up to nine weeks into the pregnancy.

Due to the recent Zika epidemic in much of South and Central America (now declared a global health emergency), Women on Web will provide free medical abortions. Zika causes microcephaly, a condition that causes the fetus’s brain to stop growing, causing abnormally small heads and brain damage. Many women in affected countries don’t have access or means to safe abortions, so Women on Web will mail these abortion pills to women less than nine weeks pregnant.

The women must have an online consultation with a doctor and fill out a questionnaire about their pregnancy. The medical abortion pills are only sent to countries where abortion is restricted, but not illegal.
