The Cut just published an epic list of great moments in menstrual history that you need to know about.
Though there’s a lot of them, some highlights include:
- 1870: The first advertisements for menstrual products begin to appear. What were they selling? Menstrual pads held up by suspenders (uh oh).
- 1931: Earle Haas invests the modern-day tampon.
- 1946: Feminine hygiene product company Kimberly-Clark works with Disney to create a film titled The Story of Menstruation, which is eventually seen by over 105 million school children.
